Residential house

In Weikersheim, ARCHITEKTURBÜRO BAUER has designed a modern residential building in the Bauhaus style, which has been enhanced with design elements such as round windows. In addition to the appealing design with recessed and projecting balconies, the building complies with the German KfW 40 Plus standard and is therefore particularly energy-efficient.

The residential building, which harmonises perfectly with the hillside location, offers space for three residential units, each on one floor. The aim of ARCHITEKTURBÜRO BAUER was to create a sustainable building and extend the living space to the outside with generously designed balconies. Therefore, when planning the interior, the designers made sure that the functional rooms were only as large as necessary to provide sufficient space for the living area in the centre and the balconies. Since the house benefited from KfW 40 Plus funding, a high level of energy efficiency had to be incorporated right from the planning stage. Particularly challenging were the widely projecting balcony slabs, which are also the floor slabs and, like the main part of the building, were to be constructed completely in reinforced concrete. The thermal break Schöck Isokorb® XT ensures the reliable connection and thermal insulation. As a load-bearing element, it is not only part of the building statics and thus supports the balconies, but it also thermally separates them from the building so that thermal bridges are minimised. In addition, the dowel Schöck Stacon® type LD acts as a load-bearing connecting element in the balcony supports, transfering shear forces and providing the necessary freedom of movement at the same time.
