The glass fiber composite material Schöck Combar® is made from high-quality components that, through a unique manufacturing process, result in an exceptional material. Its special properties make it a superior alternative to steel reinforcement in various application areas.
The material that shapes the future
There is no secret behind Combar®; it is simply a glass fibre composite with exceptional properties: corrosion-resistant, non-magnetisable, easy to machine, non-conductive, exceptionally lightweight and highly tensile. With its concentrated strength, Combar® opens up a new dimension in steel-free reinforcement – where steel reaches its limits. Durable, economical, sustainable – with a service life of over 100 years.
Unusual material manufactured in-house
In the first step (pultrusion) high strength glass fibres are processed continuously. This involves bundling them as tightly as possible then pulling them through a die where they are impregnated with liquid synthetic resin. In the second step (profiling) the ribs are cut to obtain the cured bars. The bars are then lacquered.
