Sconnex®

Thermal bridges of walls and columns are relevant

Approximately 40% of all thermal bridges in a building are caused by walls and columns. They account for about 10% of heating energy losses.

Isokorb® expertise for walls and columns

With Sconnex®, Schöck transfers its Isokorb® expertise from balconies to walls and columns – providing a user-friendly and high-quality solution that contributes to a permanently sustainable building concept.

We are shutting the last big thermal bridge

In connection details between walls and columns to floor slabs or ground slabs, thermal bridges have so far resulted in significant energy losses. Additionally, these areas often experience structural damage caused by condensation or mold growth.

With Schöck Sconnex®, these thermal bridges are insulated directly within the component. Sconnex® serves as both thermal insulation and a structural element. The conventional edge insulation is no longer required, which not only enhances the building physics quality but also offers architectural and economic advantages.

with Schöck Sconnex®
Sconnex® minimizes thermal bridges in walls and columns, eliminating the need for edge insulation (here: Sconnex Type P at the column head).
without Schöck Sconnex®
Conventional edge insulation on walls and columns leads to limitations in terms of aesthetics and design.

Versatile application

Schöck load-bearing thermal insulation elements minimise thermal bridges to an outstanding degree. This prevents structural damage whilst offering planners maximum design flexibility.

Experience reports

For me, Sconnex® has created a completely new approach: by thermally separating the walls directly on the floor slab, we were able to save on insulation underneath the building and move the insulation to the inside. Sconnex® made it possible to reduce our insulation costs and create an optimal sustainable insulation solution in terms of building physics.

Thanks to Schöck Sconnex®, we can now plan the thermal envelope throughout, almost completely independently of the room layout. This eliminates planning and execution errors and significantly reduces the risk of construction damage due to condensation and mold. What's more, it looks much better – which makes Sconnex® a real alternative to flanking insulation.

A lot of my designs owe their lightness and freedom to Schöck components because I have Schöck in mind from my very first sketch and I know Schöck can deliver.

Sconnex® is an economically, creatively and structurally optimized solution for thermally separating reinforced concrete walls. Finally, we can see the end of wood wall boards on the ceilings of underground garages.

Hut architecture with role-model status

A particularly innovative and sustainable approach was adopted by using Schöck Sconnex® to modernise the historic Hörnlihütte and reduce heat loss from the building to a minimum.
