Westhof

The Westhof residential project in Dübendorf, Switzerland, is an example of how self-managed and sustainable co-operative building and living can succeed. In the middle of a rapidly growing and changing urban area, the Westhof, designed by Conen Sigl Architekt:innen, Zurich, offers a variety of residential, community and commercial forms. Schöck Tronsole® provides reliable impact sound insulation in the stairwells.
The new Tronsole® Type P product for connecting the stair landing to the stairwell wall was also used for the first time in a project - and, in addition to reliable impact sound insulation, also ensured that the architectural requirements of the landings in exposed concrete were met. The impact sound insulation element enables the prefabricated landing to be constructed without concrete brackets and can therefore be easily inserted into the already constructed staircase. "The installation was carried out quickly and effectively. Fixing the wall and supporting elements through wall recesses in the podium sleeves already in the landing was also effortless," says Marco Gloggner, foreman of the master builder work at Spleiss AG, confirming the optimised construction process. Thanks to excellent sound insulation, no floating screed is required when using Tronsole® Type P. In addition, the prefabricated platform can be walked on immediately after levelling the height of the wall elements with steel plates.
