Landsberger Allee

Europe's largest modular housing project to date is being built on Landsberger Allee in Berlin. On a 39,400 m² site, the state-owned Gewobag is constructing a new neighbourhood with 1,548 predominantly subsidized apartments for low- and middle-income earners and students. Four seven- to eight-story building sections are being constructed using a cost-effective modular design consisting of over 3,000 room modules – around 50% faster than conventional construction projects.

Daiwa House Modular Europe relied on the Schöck Isokorb® T S for the 759 freely cantilevered steel balconies. The load-bearing thermal insulation element enables simple pre-installation in the factory and quick, flexible assembly on the construction site. Balconies can only be attached after the facade has been completed and can be efficiently mounted using screw connections – a decisive advantage in the modular construction process.

Due to the facade structure, a special solution was required: extended threaded rods and an adapter component bridge the greater distance to the supporting structure without compromising structural safety. The flexible system solution met all requirements and could be smoothly integrated into planning, prefabrication, and installation.

The result: a high degree of prefabrication, a secure thermal bridge solution, and an efficient construction process. Schöck Isokorb® T S has proven itself in this large-scale project – with the potential to be used as a standard solution in modular housing construction in the future.
