The new Ostholstein district administration building in Eutin impresses with its modern ambience and forward-looking hybrid timber construction. The three-story extension has been harmoniously integrated into the listed ensemble and meets the space requirements of around 500 employees.
The escape stairwell posed a particular challenge: the combination of reinforced concrete stairs and solid wood walls required an innovative solution for impact sound insulation. Various types of Schöck Tronsole® were used here – a first in hybrid timber construction. “We were faced with the question of whether a Tronsole® could ensure decoupling and thus sound insulation,” explains Liam Owen Winckler from DREWES + Speth. Scientific monitoring by STEP GmbH confirmed that Schöck Tronsole® not only achieved the required values of 53 dB, but also fell well below them.
Two type Q impact sound insulation elements were installed in the rear wall. Tronsole Z was used in the side walls. On the main landing, two Tronsole Z elements were installed on the front and two Tronsole B elements were installed lengthwise on the stairwell wall.
The project shows how Schöck Tronsole® also provides effective impact sound insulation in innovative wood hybrid constructions and opens up new possibilities for sustainable construction methods with high acoustic comfort. For employees, this means a pleasant working atmosphere with significantly reduced noise levels.
