Architectural concrete and rainscreen cladding façades

The façade is rightly called the face of a building – an architectural statement at first sight. Consequently, the choice of façade type is crucially important and has implications for the construction process. A concrete façade can be constructed using prefabricated elements or in-situ concrete. Exposed concrete is particularly important in modern architecture, as is rainscreen cladding, which, as a lightweight façade, also opens up great design freedom.

An overview summarizes the most important requirements for concrete façades.

Energy efficient concrete façades

An architectural concrete façade immediately reveals the unmistakable character of a building from the outside. The surfaces usually fulfill a design function, and the aesthetic demands on the surfaces are correspondingly high. The specific appearance created depends on the type of formwork. At the same time, energy efficiency is an important requirement. In principle, concrete offers good conditions for energy-efficient construction. However, if you don’t want to compromise on the façade design to satisfy increasing requirements in terms of thermal insulation properties, you need innovative solutions to achieve the appearance you want with core-insulated elements.

Meeting requirements with Schöck Isolink®

Schöck Isolink® demonstrates the company’s competence and innovativeness in meeting the requirements of modern construction. With thermal-break connection elements in core-insulated concrete façades, the façade fastening can be realized without thermal bridges, and the required energy efficiency can be achieved in element and sandwich walls. This is made possible by the special glass fiber composite material Combar®, which has exceptionally low thermal conductivity.

Schöck Isolink® – strong types
Schöck Thermoanker-H: for supported, core-insulated concrete walls
Isolink® type TA-H

The thermal break façade fastener for core-insulated concrete walls consists of the special glass fiber composite material Combar®. The slanted ends make the bar easy to place – used horizontally in element walls, it acts as a back anchor for the facing shell as well as a spacer for the overall element.

Schöck Thermoanker-D: for self-supporting, core-insulated concrete walls
Isolink® type TA-D

The façade fastener with straight ends, made of Combar® glass fiber composite, is used in combination with the Schöck Isolink® type TA-D. It is placed diagonally in core-insulated element walls with a freely suspended facing shell.

Rainscreen cladding façade – thermally separated and versatile

The special benefit of a rainscreen cladding façade is its energy efficiency and versatility. The robust, sustainable façade system is characterized by almost unlimited freedom of design. The heart of rainscreen cladding is the Isolink® thermal bridge-free façade fastener, which meets highest building energy standards.
