Sustainability Report - Schöck AG 2022

Don't let heat go to waste At the production sites in Germany and Hungary, fumes containing various substances are released during welding in the manufacturing processes. To protect the health of the employees, they have to be collected using welding fume extraction systems. With the state-of-the-art system at the Baden-Baden plant, even more can be achieved: The exhaust air is used in the counterflow heat exchanger to heat the fresh air. As a result, no additional natural gas needs to be used to heat production rooms. Schöck thus saves 183.27 MWh of energy, corresponding to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 37.02 tonnes. In total, the reduction in CO2 emissions due to the new welding fume extraction system through electricity savings and heat recovery amounts to 187.62 t.
