Schöck Combar® (composite rebar) belongs to the class of so called fibre composite materials. In fibre composites fibres are combined with other materials to achieve improved properties and synergy effects. The properties of the resulting material can be customized by choosing specific fibres, by adjusting the fibre orientation and by varying the additive and binder contents.

One of the best-known composites is glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP). It is being used in many fields, such as electronics and shop building, to produce light weight, high strength and extremely durable components.

The tensile strength of Schöck Combar® is far better than that of reinforcing steel. The mechanical properties are proven to last more than 100 years, even in chemically aggressive surroundings. The bond properties and creep behaviour correspond to those of steel rebar.

load-bearing elements, unusual loads, anchors and fasteners

Schöck Combar® is permanently resistant to acids and bases. Corrosion protection is not required. Thus, Schöck Combar® is ideally suited for any type of construction in highly corrosive environments.

Bridges, facade elements, industrial floors, soundproof walls, brickwork reconstruction, multi-storey car parks, shore protection, ports

As it is electromagnetically non-conducting, Combar® is ideally suited for applications in electrical and research facilities.

Rail and tram slab tracks, research facilities, industrial floors with driverless transport systems, electricity transmission intrastructure, general building construction (structural biology)

Schöck Combar® can be easily cut to length with an angle grinder or steel saw. Therefore, it is the ideal solution for retrofit openings, in temporary elements or structures, and in tunnel construction (passageway for tunnel boring machines in pit walls). The installation of Combar® results in substantial time and cost savings.

As the thermal conductivity of Schöck Combar® is very low, creating connections with Schöck Combar® can prevent thermal bridges.
