Sustainability Report - Schöck AG 2022

Schöck supports the life cycle assessment In view of climate change, there is no alternative to sustainable building. What has been happening in the public sector and in industrial buildings for some time now is increasingly being felt in the housing industry and in private housing construction. Certifications such as the seal of approval from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and the Sustainable Building Quality Seal (QNG) are also gaining in importance here. In order to provide proof of sustainability, life cycle assessment data on the individual structural components is required, which is provided by the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). Together with the German institute for building and the environment (IBU), Schöck has developed the EPD for the products Combar®, Isolink® and Isokorb®. Schöck thus provides its partners with the necessary data basis for the life cycle assessment of sustainable buildings. The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is based on international standards, and is transparent, neutral and dependable. It provides information on the consumption of resources, the use of renewable energies and the emissions of a product during production and disposal, including an estimate of the environmental impact. In addition, EPDs can also be used to identify potential improvements to products. Schöck is the only manufacturer to date to have an EPD for façade connection and reinforcement made of glass fibre composite material.
